LAD Research

There is currently ongoing research in France

(This is an email from the researcher, if you can help please do, without breeders sending in samples the research cannot continue.)

I am Anne Thomas, researcher at Antagene (French laboratory in research and
analysis in animal genomic,
http://www.antagene .com).
A French breeder who had a case of LAD Bull Terrier this year found your web
site and had informed me.
In collaboration with a dermatologist vet and two academics teams, we have a
research project on LAD in Bull Terrier. The aim of the project is to find
the mutation causes the disease in the bull terrier to propose a genetic
test, but also to find new way to explore for Human medicine

We are looking for samples from affected and their family (parents, brother,
sister). It would be of great help if owner who had affected puppy would
send us the samples.

We need :
- blood sample (3-5 ml on EDTA, it is only for research purpose). If it is
not possible to get a blood sample, then cheek swab is possible, ask me to
have some kits. But, for research purpose, we have less DNA with cheek swab.
- a copy of the pedigree
- a note from your veterinary, describing symptoms if the dog is affected or
certifying the dog is clear
- a sampling certificate to have information on the dog and its owner. You
can get this certificate on our web site.

The participation is free. Thanks very much for your help!
